Box Score 3 AIKEN, SC - The softball team opened their 2010 season at the USC-Aiken Early Bird Classic this afternoon where they went 1-2 over three games played today. Poor weather forced changes in today's original playing schedule but the Hawks still managed to get in three games. Chowan picked up an 8-7 win over Seton Hill University to open the tournament but then fell 8-0 and 9-1 to Lander University and Erskine College respectively.
Jessica Farmer came in for relief of starter Allie Kolezynski to pick up the win over Seton Hill. Farmer tossed three innings,giving up one run on three hits. Kolezynski was 2-4 at the plate with a bases loaded double and a run scored. Mindy Bird also had two hits and two RBI with Tricia Gorman collected two hits and an RBI. Kaytee McLaughlin scored three runs and had a hit in the win.
Farmer picked up the loss on the mound in the 8-0 loss to Lander. Farmer pitched three innings, giving up four runs on seven hits. Christie Wright came in for relief of Farmer, throwing the last two innings. She gave up four runs on six hits. Alex Allen and Ashlee Huffman each had a hit in the loss.
Wright pitched the loss for the Hawks in the 9-1 loss to Erskine. Chowan scored their only run on a passed ball but failed to get a hit in the game.
Chowan will keep their original day two schedule for the tournament. They will face off against Francis Marion at 10:00am, followed by #2 nationally ranked North Georgia State College and University.
