Softball Drops Two to Bloomsburg

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 MURFREESBORO - The softball team dropped to 3-11 on the year after suffering a doubleheader sweep this afternoon to Bloomsburg University. The Hawks fell with final scores of 4-0 and 7-4. Bloomsburg no-hit the Hawks as they fell 4-0 in the first game but Chowan bounced back with 11 hits in the nightcap. After leaving nine runners on base, they fell short in the nightcap 7-4. 

The Hawks struck out ten times at the plate in the 1-0, first game loss. With no run support, Christie Wright picked up the loss on the mound after throwing seven innings, giving up ten hits and striking out three batters. 

Chowan bounced back to out hit Bloomsburg 11-8 in the nightcap loss but left nine runners on base in the 7-4 loss. Jessica Farmer pitched the loss after allowing seven runs on eight hits. Four of her seven runs were earned. She also struck out two batters. Ashley Huffman was 3-3 with a double and two RBI in the game while Fahren Munro , Tricia Gorman , and Lacey Wildeboer each collected two hits. 

Chowan (3-11) will travel to Fayetteville State University on Friday afternoon to open CIAA Conference play. The West Division doubleheader is set to start at 3:00pm.
