Box Score 2 MURFREESBORO - Justin Bagbey's three run homerun in the bottom of the seventh inning lifted his team to an 11-10 victory over Indiana University-PA in game one of Sunday's doubleheader. However Chowan dropped the second game of the doubleheader 15-3 to move to 4-6-1 on the season. Chowan collected 30 hits over fourteen innings of play, their higest doubleheader total through 11 games this season.
Trailing 10-8 in their final at bat, Justin Bagbey stepped to the plate with two outs and two runners on base and drilled the walk off homerun for the 11-10 win. John Kellett and Brandon Mack collected back-to-back singles with two outs and were drove in on Bagbey's homerun. Bagbey finished the game going 4-4 with two homeruns, four runs scored, and six RBI. Adam Capps was also perfect at the plate, going 3-3. Mack finished up game one 3-5 at the plate with three runs scored while Justin Shockley was 3-4 with an RBI in the game. Robert Weaver picked up the win after pitching in relief of starter Will Medlin . Medlin threw the first five innings and fave up 12 hits and nine runs. Weaver didn't allow a hit in the last two innings and struck out three IUP batters.
Chowan collected 12 hits in the nightcap but gave up 17 to IUP and fell with a final score of 15-3 in game two. John Morris picked up the loss after throwing 1.2 innings, giving up nine runs on ten hits. Kellett and Mack, and Stewart Barnette went 2-4 at the plate. Mike Taylor finished up 2-3 in the game.
The Hawks will host Elizabeth City State University in a doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon at 1:00pm in their CIAA season opener.
