Box Score 2 MURFREESBORO - The baseball team opened the home season with doubleheader sweep over Fairmont State University today. The Hawks evened their overall record at 2-2 with the 9-2 and 14-4 wins. Chowan pounded out 20 hits in 14 innings while getting solid pitching performances from both
Ryan Bradshaw and
Tyler King respectively.
Chowan used a seven-run sixth inning to bust a 2-2 tie and take the 9-2 eventual win in the first game.
Ryan Bradshaw pitched a complete game for his first win this season. Chowan pounded out nine hits in the first game. Mike Taylor and
Justin Bagbey collected two hits each with an RBI.
Adam Capps drove in two runs on a double and
Stewart Barnette also had two RBI. Bradshaw pitched the complete game win. He gave up eight hits, two earned runs, and struck out eight batters in the win.
Chowan iced game two with a seven-run, sixth inning. The Hawks rolled to the 14-4 win.
Zac Caito posted a 3-4 day at the plate with four RBI while
John Kellett was 3-4 with two runs knocked in.
Brandon Mack was 2-5 with a run scored.
Tyler King pitchedc five innings for the win in the nightcap. He gave up four hits and two runs while also striking out eight FSU batters.
Tyler Chelenza and Anthony O'Brien each tossed an inning in relief of King.
The Hawks (2-2) will host Fairmont State (0-2) again tomorrow in another doubleheader slated to start at 12:00pm.
