KUTZTOWN, PA - The volleyball team fell in straight sets tonight to host-team Kutztown University in opening day play at 2009 Kutztown University Classic. Chowan lost with game scores of 25-20, 25-22, and 26-24. Tonight's loss moves the Hawks to 4-2 on the year. 

"Although we lost, we played our best match of the season to this point," stated Head Coach Peter Green. Green and the squad will hit the court tomorrow where they will face off against the University of Philadelphia at 12:00pm and then again at 4:30pm against West Chester University. 

In tonight's match Victoria Lewis led the way offensively for Chowan with 12 kills while Desaray Turner tallied 10 kills. Callie Armistread set up 29 assists for her team.
