Ashley Bradford scored three goals in a 3-1 win over Southern Virginia this afternoon. The Hawks ended a seven-game winless streak with today's home victory. Chowan edged the Knights shot wise, getting off 18 shots to SVU's 16 in the match.
Ashley Bradford gave the Hawks a 2-0 lead heading into halftime. She scored her first goal in the 39th minute when
Meredith McCarthy found her open in the box and she touched the ball in from just a few yards out.
Clara Danzeisen found Bradford again where she beat two SVU defenders and an outstretched Knight keeper for the second score for Chowan.
SVU got on the board in the 65th minute when Kendra Hiern flicked a ball over Chowan's keeper
Kristy Brown. The Hawks answered shortly there after with their third goal of the game. Danzeisen hooked up with Bradford once again for a goal far post in the 67th minute.
Brown ended the game with four saves and one goal allowed. The Hawks improve to 2-8 overall while SVU moves to 4-5 on the year.
The Hawks will host the "Just For Kicks Classic" over the weekend in their next outing.
