Box Score MURFREESBORO - Chowan's Lando Morrison scored 21 points as the Hawks battled out a 80-71 win over Lincoln University in men's basketball action this evening. Five Chowan players claimed double-figure scoring nights with Morrison getting a team-high 21 points and grabbing 16 rebounds.
The Hawks took a 36-33 lead into halftime and spread their lead to as many as 10 points with just under three minutes to play in the game. But the Lions battled with the Hawks cutting their lead to four points with under a minute to play. WIth no time outs the Lions were forced to foul, sending Chowan to the line six times where they nailed 5 out of 6 over the final :17 seconds of the game to take the nine point victory.
Jaleel Nelson scored 14 points and had seven rebounds and teammate
Charles Rhodes came in behind with 13 points.
Anton Shoetan hit for 12 points, a season-high while
Mark Brown chipped in 10 points.
For Lincoln, Darren Clark had a game-high 23 points to go with seven assists.
Chowan improves their overall record to 2-1 after tonight's win while Lincoln moves to 0-3.
The Hawks will come out of Thanksgiving Break to host CIAA East opponent, Virginia Union University on November 30th. Tip off is slated for 7:30pm. Lincoln has Johnson C. Smith at home on November 28th in their next match up.
