MURFREESBORO - The men's soccer team opened their 2006 campaign with a 2-0 loss to St. Andrews this afternoon. The officials called the game early in the 71st minute because of lightning in the area but the game is official. 

Both teams remained scoreless until the 33rd minute of the first period when St. Andrews was credited a score with an own goal. St. Andrews took a 1-0 lead into the half and scored once again in the 55th minute to take at 2-0 lead over Chowan. The game was called just 16 minutes later and the Knights took home at 2-0 win over home standing Chowan.

Josh Cenci started in goal for Chowan, making four saves and giving up both goals in the game. Chowan got off 5 shots to St. Andrews' 11 total shots.

The Hawks drop to 0-1 while St. Andrews moves to 2-1 on the year. Chowan will travel to Coker College on Friday for a 6:00pm match. The women will face off with the Cobras prior to the men's game at 4:00pm. The women return home on Saturday for a 2:00pm match with Peace College. The men will host Mount Olive on the 6th at 4:00pm in their next home match.
