Eric Gustafson enters his 13th year in the Chowan Athletics department and sixth as Director of Sports Medicine.
During the 2021-22 academic year, Gustafson was named Chowan Male Staff Member of the Year.
Gustafson has spent the past three years as the Head Athletic Trainer. Â Prior to being promoted to Head Athletic Trainer, Gustafson served as an Assistant Athletic Trainer for three years.
Gustafson oversees four athletic trainers on his staff along with working with all 22 of Chowan's varsity sports and co-ed cheerleading squad.  Gustafson's main responsibility is the athletic trainer for football and men's and women's tennis.
Before coming to Chowan, Eric gained experience at Portage Central High School for three years and served as an intern for the Minnesota Vikings for one year.
The Rochester, Minnesota native graduated cum laude from Minnesota State University with a bachelors degree in Athletic Training. Eric would receive his master's degree in Athletic Training from Western Michigan.
Gustafson is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) and is an eagle scout.
Gustafson resides in Murfreesboro, N.C. with wife, Ashley (Archer).
