MURFREESBORO, N.C. – Throughout the 2026-27 Chowan Athletics season, the Chowan Athletic Department will feature the Ace Hardware Student-Athletes of the Week. For the week of September 17 – September 23, Tyler Adkins from the football team and Andrea Krgovic of the volleyball team have been recognized for their standout performances over the past week of competition.

Tyler Adkins put together a career performance in Chowan's Conference Carolinas opener against Barton, helping lead the Hawks to a 34-0 victory. Adkins completed 27-of-47 passes for a career-high 465 yards and two touchdowns without an interception, guiding an offense that finished with 489 total yards. His 465 passing yards marked the second-most in a single game in Chowan football history. Adkins connected with seven different receivers in the victory, including Dezmond Randolph for 181 yards and a touchdown and Terrell Jackson for 94 yards and a score. His second touchdown pass came on a 41-yard connection with Jackson late in the fourth quarter to cap the Hawks' 34-point performance. Through four games this season, the Martinsville, Ind., native has thrown for 1,224 yards and seven touchdowns, averaging 306.0 passing yards per game while leading the conference in passing yards and completions.

Andrea Krgovic directed the Chowan offense throughout a three-match homestand against Erskine, Belmont Abbey and Mount Olive, helping the Hawks earn two conference victories while totaling 135 assists across 14 sets. The Bijelo Polje, Montenegro, native opened the stretch with a then-season-high 47 assists as Chowan defeated Erskine 3-1. Krgovic followed with 38 assists, seven digs, one service ace and one kill as the Hawks pushed Belmont Abbey to five sets. She saved her best performance for the final match of the week, setting a new career high with 50 assists in Chowan's five-set victory over Mount Olive. Krgovic helped distribute the offense across the lineup as four Hawks recorded double-digit kills in the win, including Alanna Verme with 13, Jada Caruthers and Madison Henderson with 12 each and Alexa Fricker with 10. Her play helped Chowan close the stretch with a 2-1 record, improve to 3-3 in Conference Carolinas play and remain unbeaten at 2-0 in divisional competition.
