MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan University women's soccer team hosted the University of Mount Olive in Conference Carolinas action on Wednesday afternoon at Hawks Soccer Field. Ellis Baxter and Addisen Palmer each found the back of the net for the Hawks, but the Trojans used a pair of second-half goals to take the 4-2 decision.
Mount Olive opened the scoring in the fourth minute as the Trojans took an early 1-0 advantage. Chowan responded at the 12:31 mark when Amy Cotton connected with Baxter for the equalizer.
The Trojans regained the lead six minutes later on a goal from Elie Lopez, sending Chowan into halftime trailing 2-1.
The Hawks came out of the break looking for an answer and found one at the 52:55 mark. Laura Hulme set up Palmer for the equalizing goal, bringing Chowan even at 2-2.
Mount Olive broke the tie in the 65th minute, adding another goal later on at 76:41 to bring the match to a 4-2 final.

Baxter recorded the Hawks' first goal of the afternoon off an assist from Cotton. She finished the match with three shots, placing two on goal. Palmer provided Chowan's second goal, connecting off a feed from Hulme to even the match early in the second half.
Riley Donnelly added three shots to the Hawks' offensive effort, while Hulme recorded two shots to go along with her assist. Meah Cuddihy registered one shot on goal, while Cotton and Takiyah Raynor each added a shot.
Kylee Smith and Madison Richardson split time in goal, each playing 45 minutes. Smith collected a season-high nine saves in the opening half, while Richardson added three saves in the second half.

The Hawks return to the road on Saturday, Sept. 26, traveling to Bristol, Tenn., to face King University. The Conference Carolinas matchup is scheduled for a 1 PM. start.
