Chowan Bats Go White Hot in Win Over Shorter

ROME, G.A. - The Chowan University baseball team picked up a doubleheader split against Shorter University on Saturday afternoon. The Hawks plated 12 runs in their final two at-bats to help ice a 13-7 game two (series) win. The Hawks dropped the second game of the doubleheader, 19-5.

Game One

Ahmaad Goldson solidified his 3rd win of the season after throwing a gem of a game. Goldson struck out three batters and gave up three hits and two runs for the win. Joshua Tripp and Kelton Taylor pitched an inning in relief of Goldson. 

KJ Durand, Jr. continued his hot weekend with two doubles and four RBI. Peyton Clay belted his 3rd homerun of the week, and ended today's first game with a 3-4 plate performance with three RBI and two runs scored. Tripp went 2-4 with an RBI to aid in the Hawks offensive attack. 

Game Two 

Shorter used a nine run 6th inning to help propel them to a 19-5 game two win over the Hawks. Zackary Wilson picked up the loss on the mound, throwing 2.1 innings, giving up five runs on five hits. The Hawks threw the bullpen at Shorter, with Dawson Wiggins, Ethan Pukas, Landon Tyndall, Ethan Pukas, Cody Ives, Teray Cherry, and Christopher Tankersley each seeing time in relief. 

Collin Gifford paced the Hawks with a 3-4 plate performance. Derrick Davis added two hits in the game.

The Hawks will hit the road for a non-conference match up at William Peace University on April 14th at 4:00pm in Raleigh.
