MURFREESBORO, N.C. - The Chowan University men's and women's tennis teams earned a conference victory over Ferrum College on Wednesday evening at the Rose Family Tennis Complex. The men secured the win with a sweep of doubles play and four singles victories, while the women claimed two doubles matches and dominated singles action with five wins.
With the result, the Chowan men improve to 7-6 overall and 4-3 in conference play, while the women move to 5-10 on the season and 2-6 in league competition.

Women
In doubles play, Marcia Aragon and Janna Lerma battled in the #1 position but fell 7-5. Feidi Abreu Rodriguez and Victoria Videla cruised to a 6-0 victory at #2 doubles, while Aime Vera and Felicitas secured the point with a win by default.
Aragon led the way in singles with a strong 6-1, 6-3 win at the No. 1 spot. Rodriguez pushed her match to three sets, taking the first before narrowly falling in a 10-point third-set tiebreak. Vera and Lerma each delivered dominant 6-0, 6-0 victories, while Videla and Diva Datta added wins by default to give the Hawks five singles points and a 6-1 team victory.
Men
The Hawks swept doubles play to take an early advantage. Marcel Ungerboeck and Tadeo Missan edged their opponents 7-6 in a tiebreak at #1 doubles. Thales Sette and Tadeo Sanchez earned a 6-4 win in the #2 spot, and David De Simon and Maksim Kachuk secured a 6-2 victory at #3.
In singles, Ungerboeck posted a 7-5, 6-4 win at #1. De Simon followed with a 6-1, 6-3 victory, while Terumasa Inoue added a 6-4, 6-3 win. Sanchez capped the day with a strong 6-0, 6-2 performance. Sette forced a third set before falling in the match, and Missan dropped an 8-6 pro set. The men's team would pick up a 5-2 victor over the Panthers.

Chowan returns to action at home on Tuesday, March 7, hosting the University of Mount Olive in a conference matchup. The matches are scheduled for 2:00 PM at the Rose Family Tennis Complex.
