Rohal’s Hat Trick and Low’s 100th Career Point Highlight Narrow Loss to Post

MURFREESBORO, N.C. - The Chowan University men's lacrosse team hosted Post University in a point-for-point competitive non-conference matchup on Tuesday afternoon. The Hawks came out strong, scoring five of their eight goals in the opening quarter behind a dominant stretch from Thomas Rohal, who netted three consecutive goals. Reed Low would record his 100th career point in the matchup after his second goal in the third quarter.

Despite outscoring the Eagles in both the first and fourth quarters, Chowan fell just short in a 9-8 decision. With the result, the Hawks move to 4-6 on the season.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

Thomas Rohal matched his season-high in goals, setting the tone early with a strong first quarter. Rohal opened the scoring at the 12:30 mark with an unassisted goal and quickly answered Post's second score with another at 10:16. Justin Hill followed with an unassisted goal of his own at the 8:33 mark. Rohal then completed his hat trick off an assist from Todd Egan at 5:14, before Egan added a goal of his own, assisted by Reed Low, at 3:05 to cap a five-goal opening quarter and give Chowan a 5-3 lead.

Post responded with three goals in the second quarter as the Hawks' offense cooled down. In the third, Reed Low found the back of the net for his first goal of the game, marking his 100th career point. The junior has now tallied 59 points this season, surpassing his previous years overall season totals.

Chowan mounted a late push in the fourth quarter, scoring two goals while holding Post scoreless over the final 11:40. Owen Williams connected on a goal assisted by Rohal, and Low added another from a Williams assist to close out the scoring.

Rohal led the Hawks with four points on three goals and an assist, while Low recorded three points on two goals and an assist. Williams also added three points with a goal and two assists, and Egan finished with a goal and an assist. Hill contributed one goal to round out the scoring.

At faceoff, CJ Kuykendal went 10-of-16 and collected a team-high four ground balls. Harry Edwards and Isaiah Gill each added three ground balls, while Michael Litchfield and Egan picked up two apiece. Litchfield and Edwards also caused two turnovers each. Rocco Smith played all 60 minutes in goal, recording 12 saves.

The Hawks travel to Franklin Springs, Ga. to take on Emmanuel College on Saturday, March 28 at 3:30 PM as they continue conference play.
