MURFREESBORO, N.C. - The Chowan University baseball team picked up a split in doubleheader action at home on Saturday afternoon against Ferrum College. The Hawks used a 10 run 6th inning to propel them to an 11-5 come-from-behind win in game one to pick up their second win of the season.
Ferrum bounced back to take the nightcap with a final of 13-7. Chowan took two of three games in the Conference Carolinas series, rekindling a decades old friendly rivalry dating back to the both schools junior college days.

Ahmaad Goldson picked up his first win on the mound after throwing a complete game. He struck out 10 batters in the seven innings of work. Chowan pounded out 9 hits as a team with Jordan Turner and Peyton Clay turning in another banner game at the plate for the Hawks. Clay collected two doubles and three RBI while Turner went 2-3 with an RBI. Jacob Howard came in clutch with an RBI double while KJ Durand Jr. and Goldson drove in two runs each.
The Hawks comeback in the nightcap fell just short as they fell 13-7. Ferrum used an 8 run 4th inning to create a lead large enough that the Hawks ran out of daylight to close. Landon Tyndall picked up the loss in relief of Cody Ives. Kelton Taylor started the game before being relieved by Ives in the 2nd inning. Jacob Howard went 3-4 at the plate with three runs knocked in and a double. Derrick Davis picked up a triple in the game.

Chowan will hit the diamond again on Friday, February 27th when they travel over to the University of Mount Olive for a three-game Conference Carolinas series.
