Chowan Men's Lacrosse Capture First Season Victory in 24-8 Win Over Senators

ELKINS, W.VA. – The Chowan University men's lacrosse team secured its first victory of the season in commanding fashion with a road win over Davis & Elkins University on Saturday evening.

The Hawks set the tone early, racing out to a 5–0 advantage before the Senators were able to break through. Chowan never let up, maintaining its momentum throughout the contest with a statement offensive display. The Hawks tallied seven goals in the opening quarter, added five in the second, and poured in six goals in both the third and fourth periods. Ten different players found the back of the net in a balanced scoring effort that powered Chowan to the decisive 24-8 win.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE

Reed Low led the Hawks with an 11 point outing with eight goals and three assists on 10 shots.

Treston Gatewood notched a hat-trick with three goals on three shot attempts.  Todd Egan collected five points collecting two goals and three assists. Thomas Rohl added two goals and two assists.

Owen Williams and Seth MacKenzie added two goals and one assists, while Justin Hill registered one goal and two assists.  Scott Cathcart and Michael Litchfield finished with one goal and one assist.  Julian Wolfe and Tyler Kline contributed one goal apiece.

Rocco Smith picked up the win in-between the pipes with seven saves.  Ja'Michael Stewart tallied one save in relief.

UP NEXT

Chowan returns to action on Saturday, February 28, traveling to Banner Elk, N.C., to face Lees-McRae College to open conference play. The game is scheduled for 12:00 PM.
