HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Chowan University men's lacrosse team opened its season on the road at Coker University on Saturday afternoon. Junior Reed Low led all scorers with five goals, helping the Hawks close strong by outscoring the Cobras 3-2 in the fourth quarter. The contest would end on a 8-15 decision, moving the Hawks to 0-1 and the Cobras to 3-1 overall.

Low found the back of the net in every quarter, tallying one goal in the first, two in the second, and adding one apiece in the third and fourth periods. Seth MacKenzie recorded his lone goal of the contest at the 4:25 mark of the first quarter, finishing unassisted to give the Hawks their second score of the evening.
Todd Egan and Thomas Rohal each added unassisted goals in the fourth quarter, with Egan striking early at the 13:17 mark and Rohal capitalizing late at 5:38. Treston Gatewood assisted on Low's opening goal, while Egan, MacKenzie, Owen Williams, and Justin Hill each contributed assists on Low's remaining scores.
As a team, the Hawks registered 26 total shots, including 18 on goal, while collecting 34 ground balls and causing 10 turnovers. Kennedy Moore led the way at the faceoff with four wins, while C.J. Kuykendall and Tobin Kaiser each added one. In goal, Rocco Smith played all four quarters and recorded 14 saves.
