MURFREESBORO, N.C. - The Chowan University baseball team dropped a doubleheader to Francis Marion on Saturday afternoon. The Hawks fall to 0-6 on the year and 0-3 in league play while Francis Marion improves to 9-1 overall and 3-0 in league play.

Francis Marion pounded out 27 hits over seven innings in the first game while holding the Hawks to 4 hits and just 2 runs. Jordan Turner paced the Hawks offensively after going 2-2 at the plate while KJ Durand Jr. finished up 1-1 with a double. Cody Ives picked up the loss on the mound. Landon Tyndall, Zackary Wilson, and Andrew Sessoms.
In the nightcap, Ahmaad Goldson went 2-2 with a run scored and a double. Goldson also saw time on the mound in relief. He struck out three and gave up five hits in the game. Kelton Taylor picked up the loss on the mound. Tristan Stancil, Landon Tyndall, Christopher Tankersley, and Andrew Sessoms all pitched in relief.
Josh Tripp added a double at the plate while Turner, Jacob Howard, Derrick Davis, Nicholas Nicols, and Durand Jr. each added a hit in the game.

The Hawks will take a week off before returning to the diamond to host Ferrum College on Friday and Saturday, February 20th and 21st in a three-game Conference Carolinas series. First pitch on Friday is slated for 1:00pm at Hawkins Field.
