MURFREESBORO, N.C. - The Chowan University men's basketball team picked up their 11th win of the season after beating Ferrum College at home 76-66. Four Hawks players scored in double-figures in the win led by local talent Israel Powell who poured in 20 points.
Friday night's win marked the Hawks 9th Conference Carolinas win of the season.

Israel Powell led the offensive effort for the Hawks with a career and team high 20 points. The junior guard went 5-12 from the floor and was perfect at the foul line, hitting 8-8 from the stripe. Damerius Summers and Markell Hollis chipped in 12 points apiece with Summers hauling in 7 boards.
Joseph Lezeau II scored 11 points off the bench to go with 7 rebounds. The Hawks shot 46% from the floor on a 25-55 shooting performance night. Chowan hit 87% from the foul line in the game, with Will Hynes hitting 4-4 to go with 9 points and 3 assists.
Chowan has won their last five out of six games and are 5-2 in the month of January. They have posted a 4-1 home court record and will now hit the road for four straight Conference Carolinas contests.
