Emory, Va. – The Chowan men's soccer team secured their first win of the season on the road Sunday afternoon, defeating Emory & Henry University in a non-conference match up. After a scoreless first half, the Hawks broke through in the second to claim the 2-1 victory. The result evens Chowan's record at 1-1-0, while Emory & Henry drops to 0-2-0.
Both sides were evenly matched offensively, with each team recording 14 total shots and eight on target.

After a scoreless first half, Chowan's Bradley Binns broke the tie 12 minutes into the second period, netting the first goal of the match. Binns was a constant offensive threat, accounting for four of the team's eight shots on goal. Just three minutes later, Cameron Letterlough extended the lead to 2-0 with what would be a game winning penalty kick.
In goal, Lucas Kibrya anchored the defense with five saves, giving up just one goal to seal the 2-1 victory for the Hawks.
