MURFREESBORO, N.C. – Chowan University men's soccer opened their home season with a decisive 6-2 win over Virginia State University. The win moved the Hawks to 2-1-0 overall while Virginia State University fell to 0-3-0 on the year.
The first night under the new lights at Hawks Field proved to be a thrilling one with freshman standout Cameron Letterlough getting two scores and two assists in the non-conference match.

Chowan out shot Virginia State 21-5 in the match, with 11 of those shots being on frame. Freshman sensation Cameron Letterlough had a banner night, scoring two goals and assisting on two others.
Bradley Williams opened up the scoring for the Hawks in the 7th minute after making good on a Jeevan Purewal pass inside the box. Purewal went on to score a goal of his own in the win and also collected three assists. Luke Wilson added a score in the 50th minute and KJ Coleman finalized the 6-2 win after making good on a penalty kick just before the end of regulation.
