MURFREESBORO, N.C. – Throughout the 2024-2025 Chowan Athletic season, the Chowan Athletic Department will feature the Ace Hardware Student-Athletes of the Week.
For the week of August 27 – September 3, Maurice Smith and Isaiah Fulton of the Football team have earned honors for their efforts on their respective teams during the past week of play.
Maurice Smith | QB | #4 | Graduate | Football | Fort Pierce, Fla.
Maurice Smith led the Hawks completing 22 of 33 passes through the air for 287 yards and two touchdowns. He also added 29 rushing yards with one of his two touchdowns received from Jakobe Lane off a trick play.
Isaiah Fulton | DB | #21 | Junior | Football | Orlando, Fla.
Isaiah Fulton made a strong impact in Saturday's game against Elizabeth City State, especially at the start of the third quarter. He delivered a crucial tackle for loss, then followed it up with an interception on ECSU's very next play. Fulton returned the pick 17 yards and also contributed with two solo tackles and two assisted tackles.
Both Smith and Fulton were names Conference Carolinas Player of the Week for their performance in Saturday night's game.
