MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan University women's soccer team dropped a 4-1 decision on the road at USC-Beaufort in their 2025 season opener on Thursday afternoon. Although the Hawks had a great team effort the Mountain Lions would take the season opening win after getting off 28 team shots. Thursday's loss drops the Hawks to 0-1-0 overall while the Mountain Lions move to 1-0-0 on the year.

Goalkeeper Gracie Ross anchored the Hawks' defensive effort, finishing the match with 12 saves against the USC Beaufort offensive attack.
On the offensive side, Laura Hulme provided Chowan's highlight of the day, scoring her first goal of the season in the 58th minute to bring the Hawks level at 1-1. USC-Bluffton went on to score three unanswered goals to take the eventual win.
Outside of Ross' 12 saves, the Hawks were paced by Addisen Palmer who got off three shots in the match, two of which were on frame. In total Chowan got off eight shots as a team in the match.
