YOUNG HARRIS, GA. – The Chowan University women's soccer team came up short in a conference matchup on Saturday, falling 5-2 on the road to Young Harris. The Hawks struck first with an early goal but were unable to slow the Mountain Lions' attack down the stretch. With the result, Chowan moves to 1-4-0 overall and 1-2-0 in league play, while Young Harris improves to 3-3-0 and 2-1-0 in conference action.

Abigail Simon provided an early lead for the Hawks, breaking through at the 31st minute with the opening goal of the match. She finished the afternoon with two shots, both of which were on target. Laura Hulme added Chowan's second goal at the 55th minute while leading the attack with three shots, all on frame.
Lily Harrison and Adriana Lightfoot also contributed offensively, each registering two shots with one on goal, while Amy Cotton added an attempt of her own.
In goal, Kylee Smith started the match and collected two saves in the opening half. Gracie Ross entered in relief and totaled three saves in just 17 minutes of action, while Lauren James closed out the game and denied a penalty kick late in regulation.
