DUE WEST, S.C. – The Chowan baseball team split their doubleheader on Saturday, losing game one but bouncing back to win game two against the Erskine Flying Fleet in Conference Carolinas play.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
In game one, the Hawks jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning. Ryan Bellamy plated Geomar Santana with a sacrifice fly, followed by Jackson Dunlap's single that scored Rowan Hudson and Christopher Rumaldo. Ben Bausas then doubled down the left field line, bringing in Dunlap and Hudson to cap the inning. In the fifth inning, Warren Bailey tied the game at five with a home run to center field
Josh Wise pitched the first five innings, surrendering five hits and five runs while recording four strikeouts. Zackary Wilson came on in relief for one inning and took the loss, dropping his record to 0-2.
In game two, the Hawks struck first in the fourth inning, taking a 2-0 lead with runs from Ryan Bellamy and Bailey. In the sixth, Bausas walked in a run, and Caden Rector followed with a two-RBI double, putting Chowan up 5-1. Chowan added another run in the seventh when Noah Simpson's walk brought in Bellamy, making it 6-1.
Angel Diaz went the distance for the Hawks in Game Two, tossing a complete nine innings to secure the win. He surrendered just six hits, one run, and recorded three strikeouts.
