Chowan Softball Rolls to Fourth Straight Conference Victory with Mount Olive Sweep

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The Chowan University softball team swept the Mount Olive Trojans in a doubleheader under the lights on Tuesday evening, marking their fourth consecutive Conference Carolinas victory.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE

Mckenzie Misenheimer put the Hawks on the scoreboard in the third inning with a two-run home run to left center, putting Chowan ahead 2-1. In the fourth inning, Lenita Bryson followed suit with a solo homer to center field, increasing the lead to 3-1.

Alex Bishop took the mound to start game one and earned the win, pitching four solid innings while giving up seven hits and just two runs. Kendyl Elliott came in for relief, tossing the final two innings and securing the save by allowing only one hit.

In game two, the Hawks outhit the Trojans 12 to 9 and stole four bases. Makenzi Curry, Calliope James, Ava Mizell, and Kyra Helton each recorded two hits. Curry drove in three RBIs and crossed the plate once, while Kaitlyn Springle went 1-for-3 with two RBIs and three runs scored.

Haileigh Boone started game one, and Abby Rutledge came in for relief, earning the win in game two after pitching six solid innings. She allowed only five hits, two earned runs, and she struck out three, improving to 4-3 on the season.

UP NEXT

The Hawks will return home to host Southern Wesleyan for a Conference Carolinas doubleheader on Friday, April 4th, with games scheduled for 2:00 and 4:00 PM.
