GREENVILLE, S.C. – Conference Carolinas announced the women's basketball awards prior to Thursday's quarterfinals of the 2025 Atlantic Casualty Insurance Conference Carolinas Women's Basketball Championship.
The 2024-25 all-conference awards were chosen by the league's head coaches.
Chowan's Yasmine Brown earned a spot on the Conference Carolinas Second Team All-Conference for her performance this season. Brown has totaled 286 points, 96 rebounds, 85 assists, and 56 steals. She ranks among the top players in multiple categories across the conference, starting with scoring, where she sits 16th with an average of 12.4 points per game. The junior is also 14th in Field Goal Percentage (.421) and Free Throw Percentage (.550). Brown ranks 8th in the conference for assists, averaging 3.7 per game, and 6th for assists-to-turnover ratio with a 1.3 ratio. She is 2nd in the conference for steals, averaging 2.4 per game.
Senior Meara Carter has earned a spot on the Conference Carolinas All-Defensive Team for her defensive play throughout the season. Carter has accumulated 196 rebounds, 205 points, 40 assists, 31 steals, and 24 blocks. She ranks 3rd in the conference in rebounding, averaging 8.5 boards per game, and is 5th in blocked shots, averaging one block per game.
Annalise Malone of Young Harris College was selected Conference Carolinas Player of the Year, becoming the first Mountain Lion to earn that honor. Malone leads Conference Carolinas in points (491), points per game (16.9), and free throws made (133). Her 165 free throw attempts ranks second while she ranks fourth with an 80.6 free throw percentage. Her free throw makes also ranks 15th in NCAA Division II. Along with 16.9 points per game, Malone grabs 6.4 rebounds per game and shoots 42.1 percent from the floor.
Peyton Nation of Belmont Abbey College becomes the first Crusader to be tabbed Defensive Player of the Year. Nation has been solid defensively all season as she ranks eighth in the league with an average of 7.3 rebounds per game. She also accounts for 1.9 steals per game, ranking her 12th in the league.
Kiara Croskey of Francis Marion University was selected Freshman of the Year as she becomes the first Patriot to earn that distinction. She was named Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Month three times this season and ranks in the league's top 20 in numerous categories. She averages 11.8 points, 6.1 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 2.3 steals per game. The averages for assists and steals rank sixth and fourth in the league, respectively. Croskey also shoots 45.5 percent from the floor, ranking her eighth in the conference.
Francis Marion's Jeri Porter was selected Coach of the Year for the first time. She has guided the Patriots to a 22-5 overall record while going 17-3 in Conference Carolinas play. Francis Marion went 6-2 in the East Division to win a share of the division crown as the Patriots earned the top seed in the 2025 Atlantic Casualty Insurance Conference Carolinas Women's Basketball Championship.
The women's quarterfinals tipoff on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. before the semifinals on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. The championship contest is slated for 1:00 p.m. on Sunday.
The Atlantic Casualty Conference Carolinas Basketball Championships will also feature the Spirit Championships for the third consecutive year, which includes being held in the main arena of Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium for the second straight year. The Spirit Championships are scheduled for the morning of Saturday, March 8.
