MURFREESBORO, N.C. – Throughout the 2025-2026 Chowan Athletic season, the Chowan Athletic Department will feature the Ace Hardware Student-Athletes of the Week.
For the week of November 12 – November 19, Daneesha Briggs of the women's basketball team and Damien Robinson of the men's basketball team, have been recognized for their standout performances over the past week of competition.
Daneesha Briggs | Junior| | Women's Basketball | Guard | Wilson, North Carolina
Briggs had a career night in the Hawks' season opener against Virginia Union. She went 6-9 from three and a perfect 4-4 at the free-throw line, finishing with 22 points in just 18 minutes. All of her points came from her six threes and four free throws. She currently leads the team with an average of 12 points per game.
Damien Robinson | Junior | Men's Basketball | Forward | Lumberton, North Carolina
Robinson has been a key contributor for the Hawks to start the season. In the opener against #19 Lenoir-Rhyne, he posted seven points, nine rebounds, four blocks, and a steal. He followed that performance with 13 points, seven rebounds, and a steal against Tusculum, shooting an efficient 6-7 from the field. In Wednesday night's game against Virginia State, Robinson led the team with 11 points, added seven rebounds and a steal, and shot 5-8 from the floor. He continues to be a strong defensive presence and brings valuable energy to the Hawks lineup.
