Hawks Fly Past Trojans for 2-0 Road Win

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The Chowan University men's soccer team earned a 2-0 shutout victory over Mount Olive on Wednesday evening. Two different Hawks found the back of the net to lead the offensive effort, while the Chowan defense held strong, turning away all 12 of the Trojans shot attempts. With the win, the Hawks improve to 6-3-2 overall and 4-2-2 in the conference, while Mount Olive moves to 2-6-4 on the season and 1-3-4 in league play.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE

The Hawks tallied 15 total shots on the night, including six on target, while limiting the Trojans to 11 shots with just one on goal. Cameron Letterlough opened the scoring in the 5th minute, giving Chowan an early 1-0 lead heading into halftime. Henry Jorge-Garcia extended the advantage at 55:18, finishing off a pass from Bradley Binns to secure the two-goal cushion.

Letterlough finished the night with three shots, including two on frame, while Binns also recorded three attempts and an assist. Hlynur Fridriksson added four shots, one on target, and Jeevan Purewal contributed two shots with one on goal.

In net, Lucas Kibrya played the full 90 minutes, stopping the Trojans lone shot on goal to preserve the shutout.

The Hawks are set to play on Saturday, October 18, hosting Lees-McRae University in their annual Ronald McDonald Pantry Partners Match. Kickoff is slated for 3:00 PM at Hawks Field.
