MURFREESBORO, N.C. - Despite getting off 12 of their 15 game shots in the 2nd half, the Hawks men's soccer team fell short in their comeback bid at home against Francis Marion on Saturday afternoon. The Hawks fall to 1-3-1 overall and 0-1 in league play after Saturday's loss. Francis Marion moves to 3-1-2 overall and 2-0 in league play after Saturday.

Francis Marion scored both their goals in the first half of match. Juan Salazar Lopez netted a goal in the 6th minute for an early lead and Juan Herrera added the second score of the match in the 24th minute to take a 2-0 lead over the Hawks into halftime. The Hawks came out fired up in the second half, pushing the attack on the Patriots. Despite a hefty effort to get back on track, the Hawks only goal came in the 75th minute when
Junior Smith made good on a penalty kick.
Chase Jansen played solid in goal for the Hawks in the second half. He tallied 9 saves in the match. Smith got off three shots in the match while

Luke Wilson, and
Charlie Birch each added two shots.

The Hawks will play on Wednesday as they head over to East Division rival, the University of Mount Olive for a 7:00pm kick. They will return home to host Belmont Abbey on Saturday at 4:00pm.
