MURFREESBORO, N.C. - The Chowan University men's soccer team fell to 1-2-1 on the year after dropping a 3-2 decision to Coker College in non-conference play on Wednesday afternoon. Coker improved to 3-1 overall after the match.

The Hawks fell short in their comeback attempt after getting down early to the Cobras. Chowan got off 8 shots in the match, with Robbie Deighan getting a team-high 2 shots on goal in as many attempts. Chase Jansen played all 90 minutes in frame for the Hawks, allowing 3 goals and getting 4 stops.
Jeevan Purewal got the Hawks on the board in the 33rd minute when he beat a defender and found the near post. Charley Leech set Purewal up with a service into the top of the box to gain the assist on the goal. Coker took a 2-1 lead into halftime. Coker's Connor Duggan added what would be the goal that iced the game in the 62nd minute to spread the Cobra lead to 3-1. Four minutes later CU's Junior Smith beat two defenders and took advantage of Coker's keeper out of frame to cut the Cobra lead to 3-2. The Hawks pressed the entire 2nd half but couldn't convert a game tying score, getting the eventual 3-2 loss.
