MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The Chowan Softball team rallied in game one before dropping a pair on the road against East Divisional opponent Mount Olive on Tuesday evening in Conference Carolinas action.

Chowan rallied in game one after trailing 7-0 to plate eight runs in the fifth inning. Haleigh Reid hit a grand slam in the inning and was robbed in the second at-bat of the inning as the left fielder brought it back over the fence to end the inning.
The Hawks would take a 9-7 lead in the sixth before Mount Olive scored three in the bottom of the sixth to take game one.
Kyra Helton posted four hits on the day with a RBI. Haleigh Reid notched two long balls today with a grand slam in game one and a solo shot in the night cap. Reid added six RBI and a walk.
Mckenzie Misenheimer tallied two hits, a walk and hit by pitch to go with three stolen bases.
Megan Leon posted two hits with a double and a triple, while Elizabeth Ingle, Emily Fowler, and Calliope James notched two hits each.
Lenita Bryson added a double with three RBI and Sophia Media went 1-1 in her only at-bat of the day.
Haley Jensen tossed 2.2 innings of shutout ball in relief in game one.

Chowan takes the holiday weekend off from competition before making the return trip to Pembroke, N.C. to take on East Division UNC Pembroke on Tuesday, April 2. First pitch is slated for 2pm.
