MURFREESBORO, N.C. - The Chowan Softball team earned a split on the opening day of the Hawks Softball Classic with a run-rule victory over Bowie State before seeing their rally fall short against Felician.

Kyra Helton led the Hawks at the plate going 5-6 with two doubles and four stolen bases.
Mckenzie Misenheimer picked up a double and a triple on the day with two RBI.
Haleigh Reid picked up three hits with a home run, double, and three RBI. Calliope James tallied four hits with a double and two stolen bases. Elizabeth Ingle picked up two RBI.
Sophia Medina hit a two-run home run in game one. Alex Bishop picked up the win in the first game tossing five complete innings with three strikeouts. Haileigh Boone took the tough loss in the nightcap allowing three runs.
Chowan had runners at second and third in the bottom of the seventh inning with one out.
