MURFREESBORO, N.C. - On Tuesday night, The Chowan University women's basketball team won their first game of the season against Regent University in Murfreesboro, North Carolina. The Hawks move to 1-0 on the season, while the Royals fall to 1-3 overall.

Desiree Askew led the Hawks offensively with a career-high 21 points, surpassing her previous best of 12. Askew also added 11 rebounds, and 3 assists, shooting 8-15 from the field and adding 5-6 from the free-throw line. Kaleah Boykin scored 14 points, shooting a solid 7-of-8 from the field. 

In tonight's match, the Hawks tied the second-most points in program history, matching their 103-point performance on November 26th, 2016, against St. Augustine's. Thirteen different Hawks scored in tonight's game. Chowan took full advantage of defensive stops, converting turnovers into 43 points. The Hawks dominated the boards, securing 71 rebounds to the Royals' 22.
