Daylan Askew powered the Hawks offensively, leading the way with 27 points. Damerius Summers followed closely, recording 22 points, eight rebounds, and three assists. RJ Wilson also contributed, finishing with 14 points, six rebounds, and four assists.
The Hawks and the Yellow Jackets both finished with 32 total rebounds. They capitalized on defensive stops, scoring 23 points off turnovers. The game remained highly competitive, with the score knotted seven times and four total lead changes throughout forty minutes of play. Chowan and WVSU both had 40 total points in the paint. Chowan outpaced West Virginia State in fast break points, scoring a total of 13 compared to West Virginia State's nine.Â
