MURFREESBORO, N.C. - In an intense volleyball showdown at the Hawks Athletic Center, the Chowan University Hawks battled valiantly but ultimately fell short against the Barton Bulldogs with a score of 2-3 on October 15. The loss moves Chowan's season to a 3-14 overall record, with a 1-9 record in their conference. The Bulldogs will move to 4-12 overall and 3-7 in conference play.

However, Barton responded decisively in the second set, evening the score with a commanding 25-9 win. The third set followed a similar pattern, with the Bulldogs taking it 25-16. The Hawks, showcasing resilience, bounced back in the fourth set with a 25-15 win, forcing the match into a decisive fifth set. Despite a close battle, Barton edged out with a 15-13 win in the final set, clinching the match victory.

Notable performances from the Hawks included Alexa Wasil leading the team with 12 kills, and Rosa Lynn Collier, who led the blocks with two. The defensive efforts were spearheaded by Diana Rodriguez, with a commendable 14 digs. Jada Caruthers also made significant contributions, notching four aces during the set plays.
