BELMONT, N.C. – The Chowan Developmental Baseball team secured a berth in the Conference Carolinas Developmental Championships against Erskine after defeating Barton and Francis Marion in the Belmont Abbey bracket on Monday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Chowan 3, Barton 0
Timothy Blackman pitched six no-hit innings to stymie Barton. Barton would break up the no-hit bid in the top of the seventh with a single up the middle.
Ethan Robinson started the rally in the bottom of the first inning with a single down the left field line. Nick Reiss picked up a single through the left side of the infield before the pair moved up a base on a balk. Ben Bausas would deliver a two-out two-run single up the middle to give the Hawks a 2-0 lead.
Chowan looked to add to their lead in the fourth loading the bases but were turned away. Barton looked to rally in the top of the sixth inning as the Bulldogs loaded the bases with two outs. Timothy Blackman was able to escape the jam and get a pop up to end the threat.
Aidan Palacios started a rally in the bottom of the sixth with a base hit. Christian Allen would single through the right side prior to Landon Oughton laying down a bunt to provide an insurance run for the Hawks, 3-0.
Gabriel Espiritu would pick up the save pitching a scoreless seventh inning.

Jacob Walker singled to left to start the contest. Walker would swipe second and moved to third on a wild pitch. Nick Reiss hit a sacrifice fly to give the Hawks a 1-0 lead.
Chowan would add to their lead in the second inning as Ben Bausas reached on an infield single up the middle and moved to second on an errant throw. Bausas moved to third on a ground out before coming around to score on Joshua James' single to left, 2-0.
Francis Marion would cut into the deficit in the bottom of the second inning with a RBI groundout.
Nick Reiss, Ethan Robinson and Landon Oughton loaded the bases with base hits. Ben Bausas would deliver a RBI single to put the Hawks up 3-1 before a double play ended the rally.
FMU used a double in the third to cut into the deficit as Zachary Wilson limited the damage to one run, 3-2.
Joshua James would start a one-out rally in the fourth after getting hit-by-a pitch. James would come around to score on three wild pitches. Aidan Palacios drew a walk before a double by Nick Reiss put two runners in scoring position. Ethan Robinson doubled into the left center gap to stretch the lead to 6-2.
The Patriots loaded the bases in the bottom of the fourth inning but a pop up would leave the bases loaded.
Aidan Palacios opened up the sixth inning with a double down the right field line. Ethan Robinson picked up a single up the middle to put runners on the corners. Robinson would swipe second before Landon Oughton singled up the middle with the infield in to plate a pair. A failed pickoff attempt would allow Oughton to move to third prior to a single by Ben Bausas to stretch the lead to 9-2.
FMU would tally a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth to cut into the deficit, 9-4.
Ben Bausas would close things out on the mound to secure the victory.
