DUE WEST, S.C. – The Chowan Women's Lacrosse team would not be hindered by the weather as the Hawks soared to their first win of the season with a 20-11 victory over Erskine in Conference Carolinas action on Saturday afternoon.

Victoria Brown paced the offense with six goals and one assist. Cameryn Barrow and Rebekah Lucas tallied hat-tricks. Barrow added three assists, while Lucas tallied one.
Grace Taylor, Trinity Walker, and Sarai Sanders added two goals each. Sarai Reyes-Roman and Gracie Timken posted one goal each.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Chowan jumped out to an early 4-0 lead as Trinity Walker put the Hawks on the board off an assist by Cameryn Barrow. Victoria Brown found the back of the net off an assist by Grace Taylor before Sarai Sanders and Rebekah Lucas scored a goal each.
Erskine would get on the board late in the opening frame but would be countered by a goal by Grace Taylor and Sarai Reyes-Roman to lead 6-1.
After a Fleet goal, Rebekah Lucas and Cameryn Barrow would find the back of the net to lead 8-2. Victoria Brown and Gracie Timken would extend the lead to 10-3 as Chowan led 10-4 at the intermission.
Erskine would close the gap to 10-7 early in the third quarter before Trinity Walker ended the scoring drought in the half with a goal off an assist by Grace Taylor. Victoria Brown would score to push the lead to 12-7.
Grace Taylor and Victoria Brown scored to offset the Erskine goals before Cameryn Barrow scored on a free position to lead 16-9.
The Hawks would stretch their lead to double-digits early in the fourth quarter as Rebekah Lucas, Cameryn Barrow, and Sarai Sanders pushed the lead to 19-9.
Rebekah Lucas would find Victoria Brown for the final goal for the Hawks to secure the first victory of the season.
