CENTRAL, S.C. – The Chowan Women's Lacrosse team could not hold off the fourth quarter surge by Southern Wesleyan in Conference Carolinas action on Saturday afternoon as the Hawks fell 17-12.

Victoria Brown posted a career-high six goals to lead the attack. Sarai Reyes-Roman collected two goals and two assists. Cameryn Barrow tallied two goals, while Naila Smith and Grace Taylor posted one goal each.
Southern Wesleyan scored seven goals in the fourth quarter after trailing 11-10.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Victoria Brown opened the scoring in the contest with an unassisted goal to put the Hawks on top 1-0.
Southern Wesleyan answered with three straight goals to lead 3-1 at the end of the opening stanza.
Naila Smith and Cameryn Barrow scored off assists by Sarai Reyes-Roman to cut the deficit to 4-3. Grace Taylor and Victoria Brown scored unassisted goals to take a 5-4 lead.
Both teams would head into the intermission knotted up at 5-all.
Victoria Brown gave the Hawks a 6-5 lead early in the third quarter. Sarai Reyes-Roman scored off an assist by Trinity Walker before Brown scored another goal to lead 8-7.
The Warriors scored three straight goals to reclaim the lead 10-8, midway through the frame. Victoria Brown rallied the Hawks with a pair of free-position goals along with a goal by Sarai Reyes-Roman to lead 11-10 at the end of the third quarter.
Southern Wesleyan opened up the final stanza with seven straight goals to take charge in the contest. Cameryn Barrow scored a free-position goal in the final minute to conclude the scoring.
