MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Women's Lacrosse teams second half surge was not enough to secure their first win of the season as the Hawks dropped a Conference Carolinas contest to Lees-McRae on Saturday afternoon in a low-scoring affair.

Naila Smith led the Hawks with three points posting two goals and one assist. Cameryn Barrow tallied two goals. Victoria Brown and Grace Taylor notched a goal and an assist each.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Lees-McRae opened the scoring with a pair of goals in the first frame to lead 2-0. Cameryn Barrow scored on a free-position attempt before LMC led 5-1 at the half.
LMC pushed their lead to 7-1 before Naila Smith and Victoria Brown scored on free-position attempts to cut the deficit to 7-3.
Naila Smith would score off an assist by Victoria Bown before Cameryn Barrow found the back of the net off an assist by Grace Taylor to trim the deficit to 7-5.
The Bobcats posted an insurance goal early in the fourth quarter as Naila Smith found Grace Taylor for a goal with 2:00 remaining.
