MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Men's Basketball team used the home court advantage to stymie the Bulldogs of Barton and secure the fifth seed in the Conference Carolinas Championship with a 92-85 victory on Wednesday evening.

Daylan Askew paced the Hawks with 18 points. RJ Wilson (15), Preston Le Gassick (13), Isaac Hippolyte (11), and Jay Estime (10) scored in double-figures for the Hawks.
Cheick Traore hauled in 12 rebounds in 15 minutes of action.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half:
After a 6-0 run by Barton, Chowan countered with a 22-4 run to lead 22-10. Isaac Hippolyte and RJ Wilson added a basket to start the run. Christian Koonce hit three free throws before Jay Estime hit a jumper. Donavon Martin added a jumper and an alley-oop from Preston Le Gassick. Skyler Davies hit a three-pointer before Le Gassick posted a three-point play for the large lead.
Veigar Alexandersson added a basket along with a three-pointer by Jay Estime and a pair of layups by RJ Wilson and Isaac Hippolyte kept the Hawks in front, 31-24. Daylan Askew hit a triple along with a jumper by Preston Le Gassick pushed the lead back to double-figures, 39-29.
Daylan Askew and Skyler Davies picked up points before the end of the half to lead 43-35.
Second Half:
Daylan Askew, Christian Koonce, RJ Wilson, and Isaac Hippolyte added baskets to start the half to fight off the Barton attack as the Bulldogs cut the deficit to 50-48. Preston Le Gassick hit a pair of three-pointers to push the lead back to double-digits.
Daylan Askew added a layup in transition along with a pair of free throws by Christian Koonce. RJ Wilson added a pair of baskets along with a pair of layups by Isaac Hippolyte another pair of freebies by Koonce pushed the lead to 79-61.
Jay Estime hit a three-pointer along with a pair of free throws by Preston Le Gassick and a layup by Daylan Askew stretched the lead to 87-67 with 3:39 remaining.
Barton would start to cut into the deficit at the free throw line before Daylan Askew and RJ Wilson posted a basket each. As the end of the benches were used, Barton ended the contest on a 9-0 run before falling 92-85.
