Millersville Too Much To Handle For Hawks

MILLERSVILLE, PA. – The Chowan Baseball team dropped a pair of non-conference contests on the road against nationally-ranked Millersville on Saturday afternoon.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORES

Ty Johnson led the team with three hits and two RBI on the afternoon.  Warren Bailey, Carrington Williams, and Aidan Feather tallied two hits each.  Bailey hit his first home run as a Hawk in game one.  Williams and Feather posted a double each.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Game One: Chowan 2, Millersville 3

Chowan took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning as Geomar Santana led off the inning with a walk.  Santana would swipe second before coming around to score on Ty Johnson's RBI single to left center.

Warren Bailey gave the Hawks a 2-0 lead hitting a home run to center field in the sixth inning.

Millersville rallied in the bottom of the sixth to plate three runs off five hits to take a 3-2 lead and the contest.  Chowan was able to get a runner to third in the seventh but could not score.

Game Two: Chowan 1, Millersville 23

Millersville started the scoring in the bottom of the first plating four runs off three hits and an error.  The Hawks would get a run back in the top of the second as Aidan Feather led off the inning with a single to left before moving to second on a balk.  Ty Johnson singled to right center to plate Feather and cut the deficit to 4-1.

The Marauders would continue scoring pounding out 24 hits in the contest to take the victory 23-1.

UP NEXT

Chowan hits the road for Conference Carolinas action as the Hawks travel to Florence, S.C. to take on Francis Marion in a three-game series.  First pitch of the doubleheader is slated for 12pm on Saturday, February 18.
