Ace Hardware Student-Athletes Of The Week | Jan. 9

MURFREESBORO, N.C. – Throughout the 2022-2023 Chowan Athletic season, the Chowan Athletic Department will feature the Ace Hardware Student-Athletes of the Week.

For the weeks of December 12 – January 8, Destiny Robinson of Women's Basketball and Jay Estime of Men's Basketball for their efforts on their respective teams during the winter break.

Destiny Robinson averaged 12.6 points, 8.6 rebounds, 2.0 blocks, and 2.0 steals per game in the five games over the winter break. Robinson helped the Hawks to a 3-2 record including winning the past two contests.

Robinson started off the break with eight points and eight rebounds in a blow-out win against Erskine. Robinson posted double-figures over the next three games shooting 83.3% from the floor against nationally-ranked Glenville State with 16 points and nine rebounds. Against Bowie State to end 2022, the forward posted a double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds, which pushed her over the record for career rebounds in Chowan's Division II history.

This season, Robinson is averaging 11.8 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 2.8 blocks per game. She ranks in the top-five in the country in blocks and blocks per game.

Jay Estime averaged 16.3 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 2.0 steals over the three games over break. Estime started the break with a pair of 14 point outings against Erskine and Lenoir-Rhyne. The guard finished up the break with 21 points and eight rebounds in a win over Converse.

The Atlanta, Ga. native leads the team with 11.6 points per game and shooting 34.7% from deep.
