MURFREESBORO, N.C. – Throughout the 2022-2023 Chowan Athletic season, the Chowan Athletic Department will feature the Ace Hardware Student-Athletes of the Week.
For the week of January 9 – January 15, Imani Hickman of Women's Basketball and Andres Martijena of Men's Swimming for their efforts on their respective teams during the week.
Imani Hickman | F | #22 | Freshman | Women's Basketball | Huntington, W. Va.
Imani paced the Hawks last week averaging 11.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks per game. Hickman started off grabbing her fourth double-double of the season with 15 points and 12 rebounds in a close loss to UNC Pembroke. The freshman finished off the week with eight points and seven rebounds in 16 minutes in a blow out win against Southern Wesleyan.
Andres Martijena | Freshman | Men's Swimming | Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic
The freshman from the Dominican Republic would race to two first place finishes and a fourth place finish in the meet against Barton on January 14. Andres finished first in the 100 Breast with a time of 58.41. He would go on to finish first in the 200 Breast with a time of 2:11.65. Martijena finished the meet with a fourth place finish in the 200 IM.
