SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Chowan Women's Basketball team saw their season come to a close in the Conference Carolinas Semifinals against nationally-ranked Barton on Saturday evening.

Destiny Robinson led the team with 14 points, eight rebounds, and three blocks. Aniah Patterson chipped in with 11 points.
The Hawks kept pace with Barton until the fourth quarter posting four points and failing to score in the final 7:21 of the contest.
Chowan posted their first winning season since the 2017-18 campaign.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter:
Barton opened the game with an 8-2 run as Tyaysia Sharpe posted the lone jumper for the Hawks. Destiny Robinson ended the run with a jumper before Olivia Gaither knocked down a triple to cut the deficit to 8-7.
The Bulldogs pushed out to a 23-11 advantage as Destiny Robinson contributed a pair of buckets. Aniah Patterson connected from the floor before Barton hit a three-pointer to end the frame, 26-13.
Second Quarter:
Barton scored the first five points in the frame to lead 31-13 before Keibra Hopkins hit a jumper in transition. Destiny Robinson added a jumper in the paint as Barton pushed their lead to 38-17.
Jahkeria Bagby, Demetria Bland, Aniah Patterson and Destiny Robinson connected from the floor to give the Hawks an 8-0 run. Patterson knocked down a triple to cut the deficit to 40-28.
Olivia Gaither picked up a pair from the stripe as the Hawks trailed 43-30 at the intermission.
Third Quarter:
Destiny Robinson put the Hawks on the board in the frame with a layup. Jahkeria Bagby and Demetria Bland added a pair of baskets to offset the Barton baskets. Robinson added a jumper prior to Bagby adding a jumper.
Barton pushed their lead to 60-40 before Aniah Patterson and Monique Jones connected from the floor to cut the deficit to 60-44.
Fourth Quarter:
Monique Jones hit a layup in transition off an Aniah Patterson steal to start the period. Patterson connected from the stripe for a pair before the Hawks scoring would come up empty for the final 7:21 in the contest.
