MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Women's Basketball team picked up a 69-50 home victory over Lees-McRae in Conference Carolinas action behind four players in double figures on Saturday afternoon.

Destiny Robinson notched her fourth double-double of the season and 24th career double-double with 18 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks. Robinson is 47 rebounds shy of the Chowan Division II career record for rebounds held by Jordan Payne (709).
Demetria Bland added 12 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Aniah Patterson and Brittany Wilcox tallied 10 points each.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter:
Demetria Bland put the Hawks on the board with a jumper in transition before knocking down a triple to spark a run for the Hawks. Imani Hickman and Tyaysia Sharpe added layups in transition along with baskets by Yasmine Brown and Brittany Wilcox to lead 13-2 midway through the frame.
Out of the media timeout, LMC ended the run with a three-pointer before Aniah Patterson answered at the other end. Patterson and Destiny Robinson picked up a point each at the stripe as the Bobcats closed the gap to 18-12 before the end of the quarter.
Second Quarter:
Lees-McRae closed the gap even more with four straight points, 20-18, before Aniah Patterson connected from the floor in the stanza. After a LMC basket forcing a Chowan timeout, the Hawks went on a 9-2 run with Destiny Robinson picking up five straight points including an old-fashioned three-point play. Brittany Wilcox added a layup and Yasmine Brown picked up a pair at the stripe to lead 29-20.
The Bobcats kept in close as Demetria Bland added a fastbreak layup prior to Destiny Robinson finishing off the half with a three-point play to lead 34-27 at the break.
Third Quarter:
Chowan opened the half with an 11-4 run to move the advantage to double-figures. Demetria Bland started the run with a coast-to-coast basket before assisting on Destiny Robinson's jumper in the paint. Brittany Wilcox notched a layup and Keibra Hopkins scored in transition. Bland capped off the run with a three-pointer, 45-31.
The Bobcats cut it to single digits with a 6-0 run before back-to-back baskets by Tyaysia Sharpe and Aniah Patterson pushed the lead back to 49-37. LMC once again cut the deficit to single digits, but Patterson sparked a run with a jumper before Destiny Robinson finished off the frame with five straight points to lead 56-42.
Fourth Quarter:
Destiny Robinson and Brittany Wilcox traded baskets with the Bobcats before Imani Hickman posted a three-point play and Sydney Roberts hit a pull-up jumper along with a jumper by Tyaysia Sharpe to stretch the lead to 69-48.
LMC finished off the scoring at the charity stripe.

Chowan will hit the road for a rivalry contest as the Hawks travel to Wilson, N.C. to compete against Barton on Wednesday, December 7. Tip-off is slated for 5pm.
