MURFREESBORO, N.C. – In a semester where the Hawks had unprecedented growth in rosters, the Chowan Athletic department also saw growth in the classroom during the Fall 2022 semester.

The athletic department posted a 2.80 grade point average for the Fall semester led by the Volleyball, Women's Tennis, Men's Basketball, Baseball, and Men's Soccer programs.  The Volleyball program led all programs with a 3.38 team GPA.  The Men's Basketball team led the men's programs with a 3.21 team GPA.

"Our student-athletes continue to represent us in a way that makes the entire Chowan community proud," stated Vice President of Athletics Patrick Mashuda.

The Volleyball program also had the highest percentage of student-athletes with above a 3.0 GPA as 15/18 (83.3%) achieved that mark.

Nine programs posted a 3.0+ GPA for the Fall 2022 semester.  Volleyball (3.38), Women's Tennis (3.29), Men's Basketball (3.21), Softball (3.18), Women's Golf (3.12), Men's Soccer (3.1123), Baseball (3.1121), Women's Soccer (3.108), and Men's Tennis (3.08).

Sixty student-athletes posted a Perfect Hawk semester with a 4.0 GPA.  Christian Allen, Rasheed Baldwin, Dennis Bates, Alex Bishop, Harrison Buckman, Jade Burnette, David Clark, Patrick Crutchfield, Skyler Davies, Maria Estinvil, Carson Everette, Cristina Flores, Shya Gambrell, Caston Garland, Jan Gastal, Eric George, Aniziah Glenn, Madison Hall, Kimberly Hubert, Regan Jackson, Joshua James, Logan Jeffrey, Trevor Jeffries, Ty Johnson, Marie Kaissieh, David Keck, Patrick Krack, Preston Le Gassick, Kyle Lotz, Harri Lovett, Destiny Makanjuola, Mckenzie Misenheimer, Erica Mock, Joao Victor Do Nascimento, Lillie Nelson, Ausar Omwenga, Sreshta Puducheri, Chloe Putnam, Shane Rademacher, James Randall, Sarai Reyes-Roman, Sydney Roberts, Gracie Ross, Rayn Ross, Tyaysia Sharpe, Michael Smith, Rocco Smith, Abbie Sutton, Allison Traub, Morgan Tucker, Lieke Van den Akker, Bailey Wilcox, Alex Wildeboer, and Alexa Woolson.

Of the over 450 student-athletes, 245 Hawks posted a 3.0+ GPA, with 160 of those student-athletes appearing on the Chowan President's and Dean's List.  The list of student-athletes that achieved the President's List along with the Dean's List student-athletes can be found here.
