MURFREESBORO, N.C. – Throughout the 2022-2023 Chowan Athletic season, the Chowan Athletic Department will feature the Ace Hardware Student-Athletes of the Week.
For the week of December 5 – December 11, Imani Hickman of Women's Basketball and Daylan Askew of Men's Basketball for their efforts on their respective teams during the week.
Imani Hickman | F | #22 | Freshman | Women's Basketball | Huntington, W.Va.
Imani Hickman played a strong part in the 60-54 victory over Barton last week. Hickman posted her first career double-double with a career-high 17 points and 14 rebounds. Hickman would also go 6-6 from the charity stripe.
This season, Hickman is averaging 6.8 points and 6.4 rebounds per game.
Daylan Askew | G | #0 | Sophomore | Men's Basketball | Ahoskie, N.C.
Daylan helped the Hawks to a 1-1 record last week by averaging 17.5 points while shooting 45.8% from the floor and 46.2% from behind the arc. The Ahoskie, N.C. native started the week with a 16-point outing in the 75-70 victory over Emmanuel shooting 55.6% from the floor and 57.1% from deep. Askew had three rebounds, two assists, and three steals in the win.
To wrap up the week, Askew finished off with a season-high 19 points against Barton. Askew scored 12 of those points in the second half including a stretch of 10 straight.
