MURFREESBORO, N.C. –  The Chowan Women's Soccer team picked up the shutout against Converse in Conference Carolinas action on Saturday afternoon.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE

Regan Jackson picked up her fourth goal of the season.  Lieke Van den Akker collected a goal and an assist.  Elena Butcher scored the final goal.

Valeria Martinez-Filgueria and Lillian DeLucca posted an assist each.

Chowan held Converse to just two shots on goal that Allison Traub easily corralled in the shutout.

HOW IT HAPPENED

First Half:

Regan Jackson put the Hawks on the board early in the match as Lieke Van den Akker sent in a cross from the right side of the box and found Jackson in front of goal for the opening goal just 3:01 into the contest.

In the 29', Cristina Flores attempted the left corner off a free kick but was corralled by the Valkyries' keeper to keep the score at 1-0.

Converse posted a shot on goal in the 30' as Allison Traub collected the save.

Chowan would head into the half with a 1-0 advantage.

Second Half:

Early in the half, Valeria Martinez-Filgueira went on the counter-attack to find Lieke Van den Akker streaking up the left side of the pitch.  Van den Akker took a few touches and deposited the ball into the far post to put the Hawks up 2-0 in the 52'.

Cristina Flores tried to make it 3-0 in the 58' as her attempt off the corner kick was saved.

Converse had a shot attempt in the 82' that was turned away by Allison Traub.

Destiny Makanjuola looked to put one in the back of the net in the 85' off a corner kick but was saved.  In the 86', Elena Butcher put one past the keeper off the assist from Lillian DeLucca.
