MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Men's Soccer team suffered their first non-conference home regular season loss since October 2019 as Wingate defeated the Hawks 4-0 on Wednesday afternoon.

Dakota Reynolds tallied three saves in goal in his first action of the season. Chowan's defense made two team saves.
The Hawks were outshot 16-3 in the contest.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half:
Wingate went on the attack early as a shot in the second minute sailed just wide. Dakota Reynolds was forced to make two saves in the opening 10 minutes of play.
Following a corner kick in the 12', Harri Lovett cleared a shot attempt off the line to keep the match level.
Wingate found the opening goal of the match in the 21' as a Bulldog attacker received the ball near midfield and dribbled down the middle of the pitch and found the back of the net from the top of the box to lead 1-0.
Dakota Reynolds made a save in the 30' before Dru Detlefsen had to clear an attempt off the line.
The Hawks had a pair of chances in the 45' with a pair of corners but was unable to record a shot in the opening frame.
Second Half:
Wingate added to their lead in the 48' finding the far post in the run of play to take a 2-0 lead. The Bulldogs extended their lead in the 64' to 3-0.
The Bulldogs continued their attack finding the back of the net in the 74' to lead 4-0.
Dru Detlefsen posted the firsts shot for the Hawks in the 78' as his attempt from the top of the box would sail just over the crossbar.
In the 88', Harri Lovett sent a dangerous shot into the box off a free kick but was kick saved and away from danger. Lovett would send in another dangerous cross in the 89' finding the head of Zack Boyd but a diving save to the left post denied the attempt.

Chowan returns home on Saturday, October 22 as the Hawks host King in Conference Carolinas action. Senior day festivities will occur before the match.
